I swear I was planning on eating better (healthier) today but I got bushwacked by some fried catfish. I was in the grocery store with complete intentions of getting the fixings for some turkey burgers when I walked by the deli and saw they were selling this:
Fried catfish filets smothered in shrimp etouffee.
That just wasn't fair! How in the world could I possibly be expected to eat a turkey burger when I could buy a platter of this glorious creation??
I am not a huge fish fan. It tastes too fishy to me.
Fried catfish is a completely different story. The thin filets have a very mild flavor. The crunchy breading is an amazing canvas to soak up any additional flavors you want to add. I usually just go with some Frank's hot sauce with my fried catfish.
....but these guys were putting done some beautiful shrimp etouffee onto that crispy, golden deliciousness!
This was so amazingly delicious. I wish I had a better vocabulary to describe the flavors.
Okay...next time I will be back to healthy grilling.
